Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of the website. Reading its content, opening a page, or submitting a search means that you accept them. Do not continue using the service if you disagree with any condition.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, state, or federal government office. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to identify Washington County and North Carolina criminal-record resources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site operating independently from every government body. It does not store source records, perform official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its content points toward the Washington County sheriff, North Carolina courts, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect to outside search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Interfere with access by other visitors or degrade website performance
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools against the pages
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into a system or account
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass another person
  • Rely on website content for a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Violate any applicable federal, state, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked service may not be used to intimidate, threaten, discriminate against, harass, or stalk anyone. Such conduct can be criminal. The rule is especially important for the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry, whose acceptable-use notice warns against crimes involving registry information. Public registry data supports safety awareness, not vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and creates no credit report, consumer report, or background check. Neither the website nor an advertising partner offers a service designed for an FCRA-regulated determination. Information from a page or linked tool may not be used to:

  • Make any other determination governed by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a government program, license, or permit
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a housing applicant or prospective renter
  • Reach an employment decision

A lawful regulated check must come from an authorized official channel or a consumer reporting agency that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Washington County charge, judgment, warrant, or North Carolina expunction law applies to a particular person. Consult a licensed North Carolina attorney for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." No warranty is made that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correct
  • Every page will be free of bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • The website will operate continuously
  • Published information will always be current, complete, and accurate

Charges, dismissals, corrections, expunctions, and sealing can change a criminal record. Updates and omissions are unavoidable, and nothing published here is an official statement from a sheriff, court, or other government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to courts, sheriffs, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those destinations are independently controlled. We are not responsible for their availability, data practices, fees, or content, and visitors should review the destination's own terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Washington County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative work from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for damages arising from website use or reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or violation of these conditions, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from website use must be brought in a court located in North Carolina. Government record access remains subject to the North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, and criminal-investigation boundaries in G.S. 132-1.4.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised at any time. A revised version becomes effective when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be limited only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
